Drove by for the 1st time just this Wednesday. I was there for only a short period of time. It being 7am, no one was around other then a young lady exercising with her rope. The next time I come up I won't be there so early. I left my house at 4:30 am to see the town. Is there more action on the weekend then during the week? Just acquired a 1959 Chevy Apache fleetside long bed converted 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton rear end and currently replacing clutch and making three speed column to HURST floor shift conversion and paint. Accelerated restoration in progress is for the Family as we really have to have 2 vehicles at all times. The theme of this new project is maintain originality to an extent, otherwise, HotRod with "Spiderman" theme as an eye catcher. Will have her on the road in a few days and will be trying to kick off my Pre-paid Legal Business using this birth year classic! This is a real treat for me. I spent every weekend and vacation for 4 years in Pioneetown. 1947 -1950 when I went into the army. My uncle, Shorty Creswell was the mail carrier there, carrying mail from Yucca Valley to Pioneertown by horse back. His wife Alice White was the first post-mistress there. I along with several other teenagers spent a lot of time in The Red Dog Saloon, even we were too young to drink anything except sodas. I have a lot of photos and memorbilia fron those times. Do you have a copy of The Saturday Evening Post dated, January 28, 1950.? There is a good story and many pictures of my uncle and everyone else in that issue. We kids got in several group shots when they were making movies in town. I have great memories. MY uncle Shorty is the man that named the valley there "Stud Valley" I was the one that nailed the sign on a yucca tree in 1947-48. We camped down there. Thanks for the helpful information about tortises. We just became adoptive partents of a desert tortise. Our neighbors who gave them to us had him for about 35 years; the prior owners for 17, and they beleived that he was an adult at the time that they got him. How many tortises live more than 100 years?

We see your restaurant every other weekend during the summer as we head out to Lake Havasu. Finally decided to drive out last Sunday to give your restaurant a try. We're dying to try it. visited J-TREE for the first time, this past w/end. my 8 year old daughter and i took a beginner's climbing class, through J-TREE ROCK CLIMBING SCHOOL. what a great way to spend the w/end. and, what a great way to introduce my kid to rock climbing. Carlo, our instructor, was great with the kids, big and small. i highly recommend taking a class through JTRCS. i know that i'll be going back for the intermediate class soon.

Thanks for the nice overview of our desert area. This is my 12th year living in Joshua Tree. The desert view looking due east from my patio is unobstructed for over 30 miles. Jan Clayton and I were very close. She loved Sandra Hayden very much, and never recovered really from her death because Sandy was her only child who was interested in the same career, and really loved her back. She gave me Sandy's typewriter as a symbol of our close and happy mother-daughter relationship. "I don't have to carry this (typewriter) around with me anymore, now that I have you in my life." Jan was generous, exceptionally witty, warm and giving. She had a cameo in "Scruples" that captured her perfectly. She was never a diva and we took the subway together many times. She loved playing "Skip Bo" and was addicted to needlepoint. And she loved cats. I miss her every day. Laurence Levine is doing a book about Jan Clayton and will devote space to Sandra Hayden.

I was looking for turtle mountain in alta. canada. I'm writing a little children's story about the mountain which collapsed on the town early 1800's. I drove from Las Vegas to L.A thru Mohave, and i stopped in Joshua tree for a few days. My life never won´t be the same. I have visited a lot of wonderful landscapes, but none like the magic that you can feel there. Joshua tree inn is a gorgous place where spend a couple of weeks with your best friends or family, and enjoy the nature and forget about risk, problems, fears...Now back in Spain, I have a big emtyness, I probably won´t back in the next 2 years or more, I will someday.

We have a Mojave Turtle in our 5 Acre yard...we rescued her from our own dogs, who thought she was a plaything. She has been part of our family for 3 months now, has become quite used to us, the cats and even the dogs. She knows she is safe as there is a fence between her and all of us!! She loves ice-berg lettuce and fresh mown grass. Paddles in the water when we run it through her corner to water the trees etc. We would like to adopt a friend for her sometime...We happened across this website purely by chance and are thrilled someone is doing something to protect the Desert Wildlife in an official capacity, and cannot wait to go and visit the Rescue Center!!
